Nothing is so irritating than seeing that notification below your text message saying, “Not Delivered!” Many Android users have seen the “message blocking is active” error at least a few times, which gives us a headache, especially when there is an urgent message to send. Even internet supported messaging is the trend, text messaging is still a vital part of our everyday communication.

As the term sounds deep, you might wonder what does message blocking is active mean android? It means an android user has all text messaging blocked by their carrier and cannot send or receive any text messages. 

Message blocking is active – You can follow one or a few of the following possible solutions on how to turn off message blocking. 

Check the Block List.  

One of the main reasons for the “message blocking is active” error is when the sender or the receiver blocks the other person. Please check the block list of your contacts and ask the sender to check theirs as well. 

  • Enter the messaging application from the home screen.
  • Tap on the three vertical dots from the top right corner to enter the short menu.
  • From there, tap on Settings.
  • Go to the spam filter. Here, click on “Remove from spam numbers.”
  • Long press the number you want to unblock.
  • Tap on Delete. And lastly, tap OK.

Check the Coverage.

Here, check for the service coverage is available in the area you are in. Check whether signal bars are visible on the top of your screen that denotes the coverage. If you have a service outage or very low coverage of one bar or such, text messages will not be sent. There also may be repairing coverage breakdowns from your service provider’s side.

Check for the active state of your phone number when you notice that the message blocking is active!

When your mobile number is in an inactive state, you cannot send or receive text messages, nor can you make any calls. If your phone is dual sim, you might have unintentionally put one sim in the inactive state. 

In order to check the active status of your phone number, go to the settings of your device and check that the status of your sim is shown as “active.” When your number is suspended or still porting, such statuses will be visible here.

Check whether text messaging services are enabled on your account.

Your text messaging facility can be disabled for some reason. 

To confirm whether text messaging is active on the account, go to Device settings and make sure “Can send/receive text messages” feature is “Enabled.”

If you cannot see an edit icon at the top of the Messages section, then your number is not active.

When someone who is texting you is getting an “unable to send message – message blocking is active” error, this may also mean that you do not have text messaging enabled.

If you realize that the message blocking is active check for Short code errors!

Some 3-digit short codes will not work in some regions because they are specific for a city or government services. 

Call the short code and see if it connects and can make and receive calls from that short code on another GSM phone. If the outcome is “No,” then the short code is the issue. If so, keep troubleshooting.

Check the country code for international texts.

When you are texting internationally, make sure you are entering the valid country code. Otherwise, there will be text messaging problems. You can simply google any country code within seconds! 

Check for message restrictions.

Your recipient might also have restricted messages from a certain group of users. Some messaging applications might have issues working seamlessly with your carrier. If any of these are in the text message, you might have to check to see if you can manually allow these applications. If there is no option to allow these applications, you might not resolve this issue on your own.

Check your subscriptions.

Check for the plan you have subscribed to. If you are trying to send text messages from a Data only plan, then there are chances that the plan may not allow text messaging.

It would be best if you also were sure that the same issue is not on the recipient’s end.

Check after Deleting and re-entering your contact.

When you have trouble texting only to one specific contact, try deleting that contact and re-saving it on your phone. This might resolve any issues associated with the previously saved contacts. 

Check email-to-text address with any senders.

When a sender is trying to use “email-to-text” to contact you, ensure that the senders have entered your address accurately. It must be <your 10-digit phone number>@tmomail.net.

The email-to-text feature only supports regular text messaging. Therefore, if someone is trying to send pictures or video messages, it will not come via an email-to-text facility. Also, this feature is not available while roaming internationally.

Check after removing all non-text contents from the message.

Any graphics, videos, ringtones, wallpapers, signatures, sounds, symbols, attachment, and occasionally emojis might restrict your message from sending. 

To test whether this is the reason, just send a text message with just plain text and see if it works.

Check whether iMessaging is interfering.

Suppose you have recently moved your sim card from an iPhone to an Android, a Windows, or any feature phone. In that case, your number may still be registered as an iMessaging number

Try some Classic techniques!

Some classic techniques can solve pretty much any issue on your phone. Try some of the following classics to avoid text message blocking.

– Restart your phone.

– Switch off your phone, remove and re-insert the battery (if the battery is removable) and start again.

– Switch off your phone, remove and re-insert the sim card and start again.

– Try removing and re-inserting both battery and sim if possible.

– Switch on “Airplane mode” and again switch it off to refresh the network connectivity.
